Celebrating 2024, a Year of Impact
Thanks to our incredible community of changemakers, 2024 was filled with meaningful impact and joyful moments. Together, we fueled students, educators, and campuses, uniting Dallas ISD schools and the community.
“We serve as the bridge between public and private sectors…to create thriving campuses,” says United to Learn Founder and CEO Abigail Williams.
And the year’s accomplishments show the power of this unity and purpose in action.

- 40,000 Free Books: We helped build at-home libraries by providing 40,000 free books. Literacy is essential for children to thrive, and these books provide access to learning at home.
- 14,500 Hours of Tutoring: Through our Aspiring Teachers program, we delivered 14,500 hours of tutoring, helping students achieve academic success and relieving stress on teachers. Kayla Moreno, a college student and Aspiring Teacher participant, said, “Now, as a teacher-in-training, I’m ‘lifting while climbing,’ helping students improve their literacy skills while pursuing my dream of being a teacher and giving back to the community that made me who I am today.”
- 28 New Teacher Grants: We awarded 28 New Teacher Grants, investing in educators and cultivating talent.
- 67 Campus Improvement Projects: Our community completed 67 campus improvement projects, creating spaces that inspire learning. “Seeing the parents show up on our kick-off garden day was a true testament to their commitment to their children’s education,” noted Norma Barragan, Principal at Celestino M. Soto, Jr. Elementary. “I am grateful to United to Learn for making this dream a reality”. A child needs to feel inspired to learn.
- 3,834 Volunteer Hours: Our volunteers contributed 3,834 hours, showing how much our community cares.
- First-Ever Impact Showcase: We hosted our first-ever Impact Showcase, welcoming over 200 guests.
- Honoring Margaret J. Hirsch: We honored Margaret J. Hirsch with the Women’s Forum naming.
- Increased Principal Well-being: We’ve increased principals’ occupational and personal well-being, demonstrating our investment in school leadership. According to Kelly Brennion, Principal at Cesar Chavez Elementary, “Prioritizing Principals Project helped me regain a better balance in my life—I learned how to find my better self. Being my better self has helped me be a better principal”.
- Growing our Network: We’ve expanded our reach from 75 to 103 Dallas ISD elementary schools.
